EFFECTS ON SURROUNDING FREEWAYS

Completion of the 710 Freeway will provide substantial relief in traffic volumes on freeways throughout Southern California because of the ripple effect caused by the currect bottleneck of the incomplete 710 Freeway. Freeway segments as far as 30 miles away -- from Valencia to Anaheim -- will feel relief. Congestion relief will be felt especially on the critical I-5 Golden State Freeway north of downtown Los Angeles, the SR-2 Glendale Freeway leading into downtown Los Angeles via Glendale Boulevard, and the SR-110 Pasadena Freeway running directly into downtown Los Angeles. The modeling shows that by 2015, the completion of the 710 freeway would remove 23,000 to 29,000 vehicles per day from the Golden State (I-5) and Glendale Freeways (SR 2). The Pasadena Freeway (SR 110) will see a projected reduction of 19,000 vehicles per day from its choked access into downtown Los Angeles.

By completing the 710 Freeway, traffic congestion will be eased on nine surrounding freeways: SR-2, I-5, I-10, SR-91, US-101, I-110, I-210, I-405, and I-605.

(Portions of 9 different freeways relieved...up to 40 miles from the gap section itself!)
